Markneter

Markneter is on the Marknet!

September 2, 2007 | 1comment |

I would like to start by saying welcome to markneter, the blog that I am going to share my findings and experience about marketing & internet. This is the first post of the blog, therefore I want to tell you about who I am and what I am going to do here.

I am an Industrial Engineer graduated from Marmara University, one of the most reputable universites of Turkey. I got an MA degree on Production Management & Marketing after graduation. I am following the development of the Internet & Web almost from the beginning. I have been online since 1995 where only 0.1% of the Turkey’s population is aware of the Internet. Web programming and online marketing is not only a job that I earn my life but also a hobby that I really love to do.

I’ve built my first website* in the first quarter of ‘96* using html. The next step was learning javascript, and then some scripting languages like asp and php. I am not using asp for a long time, therefore I almost forget it, but I still develop pages & applications using php.

* It was hosted on geocities and it is no longer available
** I can’t remember the exact date that I first start it.

To sum up, I am experienced both in internet and making money from it since 1996. After that first site, I stopped making websites about making money, but I continued to use that services and methods to make money from Internet. I still make more money online than my real life business.

Lets continue with the purpose of the blog. The name markneter originates from the terms marketer & internet(er), and this two topics will form the basis of the blog. I’ll share my suggestion and experiences about building & promoting a sucesfull website, and the ways to make money by online publishing.

The topic online marketing is the reason I started the Marketing MA program, and choosing E-Marketing as my thesis subject. I believe that this blog will be an excellent way to spend some free time, and a good hobby to improve myself. I can’t guarantee that all the information I am going to publish here will be correct, will work for you, and/or the best methods to make money or promote your site. Moreover, I don’t claim that I am a professional, or the best at this job. All I can offer is my cordial suggestions & ideas. Getting feedback, and hearing new ideas will broaden my sight of view, as a consequence I request you to share your thoughts on all future posts.

If you have any questions about me, about the site, or anything else please feel free to leave a comment.
